Logo Design Cost in the UK (2026)
What a logo actually costs in the UK, what changes between £50 and £5,000, and the VAT and trademark fees people forget to budget for.
In the UK a logo runs from around £30 on a marketplace to £15,000+ from an established agency, with most small businesses landing between £200 and £2,000. The spread is real, and price alone predicts very little — what changes is how much thinking, how many usable files, and whether you end up owning it.
What the tiers actually buy
£30–£150 — marketplace freelancer. Usually one concept, often no vector files, frequently no written copyright assignment. Workable if you accept you may redo it.
£200–£2,000 — independent designer or small studio. A real brief, several genuinely different directions, full file kit, and guidelines at the upper end. This is where most UK small businesses get something that lasts.
£2,000–£15,000 — established studio. Research, naming, positioning, extended systems, stakeholder rounds.
£15,000+ — agency. Justified when the cost of getting it wrong is very large.
The UK-specific costs people forget
- VAT. A VAT-registered designer adds 20%. A quote of "£1,200" from one supplier and "£1,200 + VAT" from another is a £240 difference. Always ask which you are being shown.
- Trademark registration. Separate from design, and paid to the UK Intellectual Property Office rather than your designer. Online filing covers one class with a fee per additional class. Check the current fee schedule at gov.uk before budgeting — the figures move.
- Font licensing. If your logo uses a commercial typeface, the licence is usually yours to buy, not the designer's to include. Worth confirming in writing.
- Print setup. Pantone matching and plates are a printer cost, not a design one.
The question that decides your budget
Not "what can I afford" but what does it cost me to change this later? With no signage, no packaging and 200 customers, redoing a logo next year costs an afternoon — start cheap. About to print 10,000 units, wrap two vans and file a trademark? The logo is the cheapest part of that sequence and the only part that makes the rest worthless if it is wrong.
Our own packages are on the homepage. If you want to work out what you actually need first, send the brief — we will say if the answer is less than you thought. The full breakdown of what separates tiers is in how much a logo costs.
